Hello everyone!
My third week was a mix of fun and sickness, and the rollercoaster of emotions that is living and working in a less developed country! I will mostly focus on the fun, but add a note that being sick can be very slimming! I have lost a few pounds, so I look a bit skinny in these pictures!
Some highlights include, this past weekend my host father invited me to a super cool band that he used to be a part of that mixes traditional Indonesian and modern music. Its a really eclectic group of people and it was really relaxed and fun! Kind of a folky sound! if i get a good internet connection i will try and upload a video!

Two of the interns who are living in Jakarta, Martijn and Emmanuel stayed over at my place, and got to experience the more traditional rural experience of my home! It was fun having them, made me appreciate even more the unique experience I am having.
The next day, the family and the three of us interns took a trip to a mangrove conservation area, saw a reallife monkey (that was really scary and aggressive), and saw the ocean! First time seeing the ocean since I arrived! Then we went to a fish market and got some food and had a leisurely meal taking it slow due to the heat! Hmmm, my camera broke this day...eff...and these are pictures from Emmanuel's camera off of Picasa, so without his permission...i hope its ok:) I am going to provide the link here! For some better quality pics!

Some of the highlights of this past week were taking a trip to Bogor, a nearby town closer to the mountains. It was glorious seeing some more of the countryside and the mountains in the distance! They have a lot of workers who make aluminum pots and containers etc, and Rita was investigating buying some for her business...its always great to see the production process and support local and small businesses!

The picture above is of a delicious treat i have come to love called chocolatos! sooo good!:) And of course the beauty is Jade, my little sister in Indonesia.
And then, the new intern from China arrived Sunday! She is super nice and despite losing some personal space, its so nice having someone else around to talk with and do things with.
My indonesian is slowly improving as I start to learn more vocab, and start to remember things that I hear all the time! There is a long way to go still though! This has been a mismash of pictures and stories...but I wanted to share some more pictures and stories!
Lots of love,
Kim
