Around the house! So when Janet and I are not teaching, but lesson planning or planning our next big weekend trip, cooking/eating, blogging, or watching Friends, some hilarious things happen! There is an unlimited supply of strange and oversized animals and insects that we coexist with...toads, frogs, snakes, spiders, ants...oh the ants, mosquitos (5 kinds...I thought there was just one kind), bumble bees, cats, chickens, roosters, lizards, various flying bugs and rats! It can be scary at times, frustrating and disgusting, but mostly we find it incredibly amusing! Last night a frog was trapped in our room and in the process of trying to get it out, it jumped on Janet's leg...and I think our girly screams woke up the whole of Bekasi!
I've already introduced you to Komodo, the gecko who resides in the bathroom, but the other week a cobra slithered into the neighbours house and caused quite a commotion! But seriously, those snakes are poisonous and big! Check out some pictures of our adventure...it was a bit tense, but it was caught and killed in the end. i did feel bad for it, but...with everyone leering over it, and trying to kill it...it must have been very scared. but, better safe than sorry for the villagers!
These are some of the girls from the youngest class: Puput, Wulan, and Irna...they are always around WHH and are so cute!
This is Janet - I think this is the first picture of her in my blog! she is the new EP from China, and is super cool. This is a yummy meal that has starfruit in it, mmmmm. star fruit is good!
Hanging around at night on our laptops and watching some soccer with Janet, Jade and Akim, the grounds keeper of sorts!
Some food...we eat rice for almost every meal....which is cool, and then there is this soup with spinach, corn and carrots that my host mom makes, i like the veggies...its something that is hard to come by here - there is so much meat! every meal = meat!
In the kitchen cooking/preparing lunch.
The house where the snake invaded. about 30 people had gathered behind the photographers view, and everyone was really scared/excited!
After about 20 minutes, the caught the cobra
'The cobra is in our hand' - just kidding
The gruesome death shot, sorry, had to include it!Lots of love to everyone how cares enough about me to read this! haha,
Kim
Wow you shot a cobra!? Or the village people did?
ReplyDeleteThat is terrifying. I do like how you felt sorry for the cobra. You know, the most dangerous snake in the world and all that.
